Cheryl L. Weiss is a life long resident of Santa Clara County. She was raised in Campbell and attended Campbell Public Schools. As an attorney, she is an active listener and a fearless advocate for her clients. She is mindful of her clients' financial interests and always tries to take the most direct approach in resolving issues that come up. Cheryl cares about each of her clients and works with them throughout the legal process to devise a strategy that best effectuates their particular needs.
Prior to the formation of McCoy & Weiss, LLP, Cheryl worked as an associate attorney in a very busy family law practice. While there Cheryl managed her own case load and gained experience preparing and appearing for Requests for Orders, Emergency Screenings, Judicial Custody Conferences, Restraining Orders, Settlement Officer Conferences, and Guardianships in Probate Court.
While in law school, Cheryl interned for the Santa Clara County Superior Court, Criminal Division. Cheryl also spent over 400 hours working under the direct supervision of experienced attorneys at the Katherine & George Alexander Community Law Center, handling consumer law issues for low income clients. Cheryl also participated in the Honors Moot Court Program at Santa Clara University, School of Law.
Prior to law school, Cheryl held a real estate license and worked as a loan officer, helping clients obtain purchase money loans and refinances. Cheryl also assisted in her family's real estate business, by holding open houses and interfacing with home buyers and sellers. Cheryl's background in real estate helps provide insight into the issues of home values and home ownership. These issues often arise in the context of community property division in divorce cases.
In her personal life, she is married and has two grown children in college. She loves baseball, football, politics, traveling and spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
